Laba porridge (rice porridge with nuts and dried fruit etc) is an important part of traditional Chinese food, and there are many species in different regions of China. Laba porridge is known that every Chinese as it a particular day, namely the pay day of the 12th of lunar month, usually at the beginning of January. Most Chinese treat it as a reminder of the upcoming Chinese new year. Ingredients:
6 Ounces sugar
Dry ingredients:
1 / 2 Pound glutinous rice; a total of 1/2 pounds red bean, mung bean, BER, peanuts and Lotus seeds (available in Asian grocery stores), or other nuts and dried fruit.
Directions:
1. Rinse the dry ingredients, then add you a pot, the half filled with water.
2. To cook turn and turn the heat to medium.
3. Add sugar and cook for 1.5 hours, until the ingredients are soft.
4. Stir, until blended and serve.
