Zongzi (a pyramid-shaped dumpling made glutinous rice in bamboo and Reed leaves wrapped)
Zongzi is similar to a traditional Chinese food Tamale. It is a special treat for the Duanwu Festival and Loong Boat Festival.
Ingredients:
1 Pound glutinous rice
1 / 2 Pounds red bean paste
3 Ounce preserved fruit
2 Oz raisins
20 Tracks bamboo dried leaves (available in Asian grocery stores)
Length of cotton twine or thread strong white
Directions:
1. Wash glutinous rice and soak for 4 hours, then drain.
2. Divide preserved fruit and raisin in 10 items.
3. Two overlapping bamboo along sheets to a sheet of one and-a-half wide leaves.
4. Fold the bamboo sheet to form a cone.
5. Add 1 tablespoon glutinous rice of the cone to add, then a portion of fruit and raisin preserve. Top with 1 tablespoon rice.
6. Folding at the edges of to cover the tip of the cone. Securely fasten with twine or thread so that no content leak out.
7. Cook Zongzi for three hours. Drain, then arrange on a platter and serve.
